Purchase Supplies at the Library

The following Creative Space materials can be purchased at the Check Out Desk.

Prohibited Materials

In order to protect our customers, staff, and facilities, materials that produce hazardous fumes, dust, or waste that cannot be safely managed by our ventilation and cleanup procedures are not permitted in the Creative Spaces. This includes but is not limited to:

• Lead and other toxic metals (Including mercury, cadmium, arsenic and chromium)
• Rosin and resin (Including lacquer, resin epoxy, resin/rosin core solder and resin/rosin flux)
• Strong acids and chemical etching compounds (Including metal patinas, muriatic acid, nitric acid and ferric chloride)
• Oil based paints, mediums, and inks
• Fiberglass materials (including cloth, tapes, mats, mesh and repair kits)
• Solvents and solvent-based finishes and adhesives (Including paint thinner, mineral spirits, contact cement, turpentine and toluene/hexane-based adhesives)
• Natural clay
• Aerosolized/spray mediums (Including spray paints, spray adhesives, spray varnishes, and spray fixatives)
• Expired or recalled materials

In addition, the following activities are not allowed in the creative spaces:

• Using heat tools to melt, shape, or carve foam or plastic of any kind
• Cutting, sanding, grinding, soldering, or heating scrap or vintage metals of uncertain composition.
• Cutting, sanding, grinding wood or working with wood in any way that produces sawdust.
• Dry glass/tile grinding and sanding.
• Spray painting and airbrushing.
• Grinding pigments.
• Tanning leather.
• Using open flames and torches.

The Library reserves the right to restrict materials and processes that staff determine cannot be safely used or undertaken in the space.
